The TechnologieZentrumDortmund was founded in 1985 right next to the university campus. It was the starting point for the development of one of the largest technology parks in Europe: More than 300 companies, including spin-offs from the TU Dortmund, with around 10,000 employees are based here.

Charisma far beyond Dortmund

Our goal is to become a leading location for knowledge-based start-ups and research transfer. We have prepared the ground for this at TU Dortmund University over many years - not only with the Technology Park in the immediate vicinity of our university. In recent years, we have also consistently established cooperations with other universities, research institutions and with medium-sized companies in the Westphalian Ruhr region and in South Westphalia and developed these into strategic partnerships.

Together, we want to establish a new start-up and transfer culture in this unique ecosystem that will have an impact far beyond Dortmund. The funding from the NRW Ministry of Economic Affairs as an Excellence Start-up Center.NRW gives us additional impetus to achieve our goal: initiating a new start-up and invention era in Dortmund and the surrounding regions!

A new era of founders and inventors

The Center for Entrepreneurship & Transfer (CET) at TU Dortmund University supports and accompanies start-ups in all phases, offers courses and workshops on the topics of entrepreneurship, technology and innovation and stimulates the transfer of technology and knowledge from science into practice. With our measures, we want to establish a new start-up spirit in Dortmund, the Westphalian Ruhr region and South Westphalia, strengthen the local innovative power and thus make the region sustainably fit for the future.

Attractive framework conditions for start-ups

The Ruhr region offers ideal location conditions for this project. Politically, the region is geared toward transfer and restructuring, it is a metropolitan area with excellent university and transportation infrastructure and unique cultural diversity, and at the same time it offers affordable building land and moderate rents. All of this offers start-ups and inventors in particular highly attractive conditions that cannot be found in this combination in any other region in Germany.
