Sharing Knowledge, Drawing Inspiration: Knowledge Transfer at TU Dortmund University
Collectively referred to as the “Third Mission,” knowledge transfer at TU Dortmund University is understood in a broad sense: It encompasses both the transfer of knowledge from the university to business, society, and politics, as well as society’s participation in science.
As a central service organization, the CET bears strategic and operational responsibility for the Transfer division at TU Dortmund University. At TU Dortmund University, we view “transfer” in two ways: On the one hand, it refers to the external commercialization of research results through know-how, patents, methods, data, or software. This is intended to lead to innovative products, processes, or services that can also be put to economic use. On the other hand, technology transfer can also occur when research incorporates input from business, society, and politics.
