A fastmoving world and global challenges put economies and societies under continuous pressure to come up with innovative solutions and new technologies. Favorable conditions for young founders and startups worldwide to disrupt industries with their innovative business ideas.
Due to the ongoing transition from the old economy – coal and steel – towards an epicenter for an innovative and knowledge-based industry, the Ruhr Area has become an international pioneer of structural change. Recently, a prospering startup scene, numerous private initiatives and higher education institutions have been on the rise, outlining new pathways for young founders and fostering transfer of knowledge and cutting-edge research to the real economy.
We invited CEOs of startups and experts from the US and Germany´ s Ruhr Area to give first-hand insights and discuss the following question:
What are the ingredients to strengthen startup ecosystems and what can we learn from each other on a transatlantic level?
